Matt
Case Study‘Matt’ was homeless, on and off, for five years before he moved into a Solo hostel in Diss. At the time he was living in a friend’s shed, was feeling very low and his self-confidence and mental state was non-existent. Debbie, his dedicated support worker, helped ‘Matt’ with debt and benefit issues. His employment support allowance was reduced after a medical assessment and Debbie helped him to appeal the decision to get his full allowance again.
When ‘Matt’s’ mental health deteriorated, he was taken to hospital where his support worker visited him and gave him great support, which was nice to have, especially with his family far away.
Debbie liaised with ‘Matt’s’ mental health and probation teams and with his worker at Change Grow Live. He has stopped drinking for six months now and although he still has depression he hopes, at least one day, that he’ll get a place of his own and go back to work.
