Early Christmas and 40th Birthday Presents for Solo Housing!
We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news with you – it feels like our Christmas came early in 2024 and launched our 40th birthday celebrations with a bang!
We are overjoyed to announce that we have received planning permission for the redevelopment of 32 and 34 Victoria Road, Diss. This marks a monumental step forward in our journey to support single people in need of housing and takes us closer to achieving our green agenda goals.
The redevelopment, a first for Solo, will feature 15 energy-efficient homes, carefully crafted to provide comfortable and sustainable living spaces for single people. With a blend of self-contained units and redeveloped hostel accommodation, this project will create a harmonious balance between privacy and community. At the heart will be a beautiful green courtyard, providing a shared space where residents can connect and enjoy the outdoors.
A Big Step Towards Our Green Agenda
At Solo, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. The development will feature state-of-the-art energy-efficient designs to ensure the buildings are as environmentally friendly as possible. From cutting-edge insulation to energy-saving appliances, every element of the build has been carefully planned to align with our green agenda and make them affordable for residents.
This project is a shining example of how housing providers can embrace modern, eco-friendly building methods to create homes that are both kind to the planet and life-enhancing for residents.
Thoughtfully Designed for Single People
By focusing on ergonomic design, these units will meet the specific needs of individuals while offering a welcoming and homely environment. Whether it’s through the carefully planned layouts or the addition of great communal spaces, the project reflects our commitment to creating housing that fosters both independence and a sense of community.
The inclusion of a green courtyard at the centre of the development is a particularly exciting feature. This shared space will not only promote a sense of connection among residents, but also provide opportunities for relaxation, gardening and other activities that enhance mental well-being.
Celebrating 40 Years of Solo Housing
2025 is our 40th anniversary and this project feels like the perfect way to mark four decades of providing housing and support to those in need.
Over the years, we’ve helped countless single people and this new development demonstrates how we are continuing to evolve and innovate to meet such needs today and tomorrow.
Our mission has always been to offer more than just housing. We aim to provide a hand up, not a handout and by creating sustainable, modern and community-focused housing, we’re giving residents the tools to thrive in a supportive environment.
What’s Next?
With planning permission now granted, we’re eagerly moving forward with the next stages. Stay tuned for updates as we progress towards turning this vision into reality. We’ll be sharing more details about the build, key milestones and ways you can get involved.
Together, we’re making a real difference – one green, purpose-built home at a time. Here’s to an incredible 40th year for Solo🎉
